The  King swept into the court and stood glaring at the crowd in front of him. His eyes rose with fire as silence commenced across the room. As his mouth opens slowly , the King declares he is going to give the biggest piece of land to one of his daughters, however they have to try and persuade him how much they love him. “Which shall love most doth.” Says the King.

First to speak is Goneril. She is an liar and fake. She says,” Sir I love you more than words can wield the matter; dearer than eye sight, space and liberety, valued to be rich or rare.” In this part she is trying to emphasis her love to her father (the King). He starts to praise her which means he is falling into his falling into her trap.

Second daughter to speak is Cordellia. As she approaches the stand to speak her father tries to be cockey and says, “What ever shall Cordellia do; love and be silent?” When Cordellia gets to the stand and the crowd is silence she looks like something is going to happen. There was an tense feeling into the air. The atmosphere felt like it was the beginning of an earthquake. As King Lear goes to say speak, Cordellia says, peacefully, “Nothing my Lord.” This made the atmosphere turn into an apocalypse; you can hear the gasps in the background and gossip. King Lears reaction is terrifying, he is going ballistic he says to Cordellia, in an aggressive tone, “Mend your speech Cordellia!” Cordellia says, “Good my Lord, you have begot me, bred me and fed me I will pay back for those duties by not accepting the land. I am very happy as I am aswell.” Cordellia is finally saying her point. King Lear replies, “Very well no longer are you allowed in my Kingdom.” Which means your no longer my daughter. Cordellia is the most honest character and is trust worthy, she’ll always tell the truth.

Last to speak is Regan, daughter of Kent, could she possibly do it, swip the King of his feet and get the biggest piece of land? Her main lines are, “Sir, I am made of the self same metal as my sisters, why should I have the biggest piece of land I am not bothered if I don’t get it.” As Regan says this you can feel her tension rising; we know that she just wants to tell her farther I love like my sisters which is equal. Regan is the type of daughter that doesn’t wont to be spoilt and does not mind.

King Lear finally walks up to the stand with all power in his hand and declares that the biggest piece of land will be given to one of his daughter another time. Who could it be?…
